LSU’s 2027 schedule: the three matchups to circle

The 2027 LSU schedule gives our preseason discussion a set of actual dates. The matchups below are the three I would circle first: tests of roster depth and contender expectations, rather than a claim that preseason national rankings have already settled the league.

As of October 7, the school has released its complete 56-game regular-season schedule.

Our starting point is the preseason outlook. An impressive list of candidates is useful. Clearly assigned roles and repeatable outings are more useful.

Mar 19 – Mar 21 · vs. Texas

SEC opener at Alex Box will show whether LSU’s roster competition has become a coherent lineup and staff against a likely high-level opponent. Hosting gives LSU a chance to establish its conference identity early.

Apr 9 – Apr 11 · at Arkansas

First demanding Fayetteville road examination of whether LSU can survive a short start and keep the rest of its weekend intact. Our preseason optimism depends on usable depth rather than recruiting reputation.

Apr 30 – May 2 · vs. Georgia

Late-April home series pits LSU’s rebuilt roster against Georgia’s own major turnover. This should reveal whose promising newcomers have become dependable SEC contributors.
